Chinachem’s transformation centres around a re-prioritisation from landlord centric thinking to user centric thinking.  By putting our tenants, visitors, purchasers, and stakeholders first, we now create environments that enhance user experience.  This fresh approach encourages greater interaction and engagement, promotes increased use and footfall, and provides significantly improved experiences.


Understanding the need and desires of our own community before we start our planning processes, changes the nature of the products and services that we create and offer.  Consumer led reasoning has been at the heart of our recent place making successes.  For example, Central Market has rapidly established itself as a vibrant multipurpose destination, where culture, retail, dining, relaxation, and celebration mix, creating a venue that appeals to almost every demographic of resident and visitor.  This is a product of listening.

Investing in Healthcare

Chinachem Group started to focus on Hong Kong’s steadily changing demography some years ago, engaging with the CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing, to investigate how best to improve the provision of high-quality housing for the city’s increasingly elderly populace.  And it is increasing fast.  In August 2023, the Government published a forecast predicting the current size of the elderly population will grow from 1.45 million in 2021, to 2.74 million in 2046.  That means one in three of us will be 65 or over.  So, as long-term thinkers, the need for us to understand the changing requirements of an ageing population was paramount.

Healthcare

  • Pine Care

    In 2022, Chinachem invested into the Pine Care Group.  A leader in the field of aged care, Pine Care operates a portfolio of integrated residential care homes, provides day care, home care, and rehabilitation services, and is Hong Kong’s largest provider of Enhanced Bought Place Scheme (EBPS) services.


    At the heart of the Pine Care offering, and a key differentiator within this crowded market, is how their workforce approach care for the elderly.  Guiding the highly trained team is an understanding and compassion for the dignity and individual needs of those in their care.  This, coupled with a declared aim to treat all in the same manner they’d look after their own family, ensures that levels of service set Pine Care apart.

Leading the way with Anderson Road

  • Designing for a different future
    In as little as 20 years, almost one third of Hong Kong's population will be aged 65 or more. Chinachem is already tackling this future shift in demographics with our upcoming Anderson Road project, designing and building specifically for this vital and relevant audience, to create Hong Kong's first all age community. In partnership with the CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing, our design thinking is being guided by an in depth study of how architechture can have a positive influence on elderly health.

Investing Globally

The principles of successful real estate investment are somewhat universal, and investing outside Hong Kong offers interesting opportunities for diversification and growth.  Chinachem maintains a keen eye within the entire Greater Bay Area, Mainland China, and beyond to international markets, seeking deals that align with its high standards around profile and performance.  Within that, sustainability is a key metric in the decision-making process, and this is reflected in the first two international assets to be added to the Group’s international portfolio.

  • Q3 of 2022 saw Chinachem acquire Kaleidoscope, the iconic PLP Architecture designed, 88,580 sq. ft., UK headquarters of Tiktok.  Colourful on the outside, and state of the art on the inside, the building holds a BREEAM rating of Excellent, is WiredScore Platinum, and has its heating and cooling needs met by a direct connection to London’s Citigen District Network.  A bold entry to the market, it promises a resilient income stream for Chinachem over the long term.

  • Only a few months later, the Group followed this high-profile deal with the purchase of another City of London landmark, One New Street.  This time more than 25,000sqm and again BREEAM Excellent, the Apt designed BCO grade A offices sit less than a kilometre from Kaleidoscope, cementing a robust foothold for Chinachem in one of the world’s most important financial and tech hubs.

We’re channeling significant resources into accelerating the development of technologies which will improve the way you live and work.  Whilst we’re not inventors ourselves, we do create and managing a diverse range of living and working environments.  So we welcome innovators and technologists seeking the ideal test bed in which to prove the efficacy and viability of their inventions.

CCG Accel - Powered by HKSTP

  • PropTech innovations

    We’re teaming up with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) to accelerate smart city start-up development. This pilot-first accelerator programme is aimed at propelling high potential tech ventures through a pilot-to-mass adoption process, complemented by our sector-specific expertise. Three themed cohorts will be supported in the next two years.

Introducing CCG COMMONS

  • the Hive Central x CCG Commons
    CCG COMMONS is a new brand from Chinachem Group focusing on opportunities in and around the growing shared economy. Deriving its name from a resource that belongs to all, our first initiative is a collaboration with internationally renowned co-working space creator, the Hive. We appointed the Hive to be operator of the Hive Central x CCG Commons, a co-working space located in the heart of Central, offering more than 17 ,000 sq ft of naturally lit, stylishly furnished work environments to bring together individuals, emerging enterprises, and established companies.
