Sylvia ChungChief Business Impact Officer, Chinachem Group
The Chinachem Group is entering its second 60 years with a sharp focus on ensuring the impression it makes is always a positive one, and Sylvia Chung’s leadership role in Business Impact, Branding and Marketing (BIBM) Division is central to delivering on that promise.
Alongside advocating for the company’s culture, shaping the business narrative, and ensuring a consistent Chinachem voice throughout, Sylvia is tasked with ensuring that a unique experience awaits those who encounter the Group through its many touch points. And with the corporate philosophy of creating shared value throughout, her management of the Group’s CSR activities is another vital responsibility within her portfolio.
Transformation has featured regularly in Sylvia’s career trajectory, with several Hong Kong hospitality brands having benefited from her vision and leadership. After successfully remodelling the legendary Miramar Hotel into its contemporary form, the Mira, Sylvia moved to Chinachem and led the development of their L'hotel Group. During her tenure, she successfully opened five properties and later spearheaded the Group’s rebranding into Nina Hospitality.
An enthusiastic supporter of all things Hong Kong, Sylvia has earned numerous awards for her leadership roles and contributions to the hospitality industry and the wider community. Notably, in 2014, she received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the School of Hotel and Tourism at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She has always been especially passionate about knowledge-sharing and the educational side of the industry, and in 2023 was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Asia-Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (APacCHRIE), the regional industry association’s highest accolade.
