    People who have watched The Sparring Partner and A Guilty Conscience, two recent local blockbusters, would probably find the courtroom scenes filmed at the former Fanling Magistracy captivating. With over 60 years of history, the colonial building was closed in 2002, soon becoming a popular filming location. Since 2019, it has been given a second life through revitalisation efforts, and is now the headquarters of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) Leadership Institute.

    “The former centre, though modest in size, played a vital role in nurturing great leaders. Now, we are fortunate to continue our mission at such a graceful cultural heritage site, thanks to the support of the government and various sectors.

    Our young members should cherish these opportunities and equip themselves to drive positive changes for our city, our country and the world,” said William Chung, Deputy Executive Director of HKFYG.

    William has had a decades-long association with the Federation that can be traced back to his secondary school years. As an HKFYG member, he spent countless hours at its study rooms; and the social worker, affiliated with HKFYG, stationed at his school has now become his colleague. The young man’s personal experience serves as the perfect testament to the Federation’s services. “Since its establishment in 1960, HKFYG has been supporting youth across generations at different stages of life, from primary and secondary schools to university, from career planning to parenting. We stand by them every step of the way.”

    One of HKFYG’s core aims is to strengthen the commitment to serving Hong Kong through a wide range of volunteer services.

    "We hope to plant a seed of giving in them. One day, these one-time participants may transform volunteering into a lifelong practice."

    This year, HKFYG has partnered with CCG Hearts, a new membership reward programme of Chinachem Group, to foster kindness. Various volunteering activities organised by HKFYG, such as “Kayaking x Beach Cleaning Day”, “Halloween Party Helper” and more, are open for members of CCG Hearts to join. “I believe that Chinachem teams and CCG Hearts members, like our young participants, will be able to derive pleasure from these activities, while witnessing the positive impact their good deeds have on society.”

    HKFYG is well aware that a holistic approach is essential to train visionary leaders with resilience, a sustainability mindset and good mental health. “Youth must prioritise their emotional well-being, find their own directions, and strive for all-round wellness development,” concluded William.

    CCG Hearts is a membership rewards programme that integrates the schemes of Chinachem Group’s hotels, shopping malls, Central Market and cinema. Besides spending, members have the opportunity to earn points through engaging in various acts of kindness. Guided by the commitment to balancing People, Prosperity and Planet, CCG Hearts serves as a vibrant platform to foster community services and volunteerism. By providing members with a wide range of rewards and meaningful experiences, this programme aims to create a ripple effect, inspiring more people to do good while also sharing happiness.
