Matsukiyo, a Japanese chain drugstore, is rapidly expanding its business in Hong Kong, having recently opened its 8th branch in Nina Mall. Situated in front of expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, the store is bathed in abundant natural sunlight, providing a pleasant working environment for its staff, according to Hayashi-san. He also highlights the advantage of its location facing the Yeung Uk Road Market, stating, “Our store presents a striking contrast to the traditional wet market. We hope that regular shoppers of the market to drop by, allowing us to be an integral part of their daily lives.”
Hayashi-san shares that while Hongkongers are captivated by Japanese culture, many Japanese fellows also hold a deep fondness for Hong Kong. Having grown up watching Wong Kar-wai’s movies, he now finds himself drawn to local culinary delights, “I am so glad to see the mutual appreciation and support that exists between our two cultures.”
